Introduction to HPE ProLiant and Apollo Servers

This course provides essential HPE ProLiant training to system administrators who are responsible for ProLiant ML, DL, BL, and Apollo 2000, 4000, 6000 systems. Students receive an overview of HPE products, tools, agents, and utilities that will help them set up, deploy, monitor, and maintain their ProLiant and Apollo servers. Practical handson lab exercises are presented on HPEProLiant Gen10 and Gen9 servers.



Administrators, engineers, and consultants who will configure and maintain HPE ProLiant and Apollo servers



Students should have a basic understanding of at least one of the following operating systems:

  • Microsoft Windows Server® 2016 Standard
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
  • VMware® ESXi™ 6.x



After completing this course, the student should be able to:

  • Identify the HPE ProLiant servers in theportfolio
  • Identify the HPE Apollo air-cooled servers inthe portfolio.
  • List key features of HPE ProLiant Generation10 (Gen10) and Generation 9 (Gen9)servers
  • Identify integrated Lights-Out (iLO)functions and features
  • Navigate the iLO web browser interface toperform server setup, management, andmaintenance
  • Identify the stages of the Gen10/9 ProLiantboot process
  • Configure a server by using UnifiedExtensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)
  • Configure and deploy an operating systemto a single HPE ProLiant Gen10/9 serverusing Intelligent Provisioning
  • Update firmware and software on a ProLiantserver using Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP)
  • with Smart Update Manager (SUM)
  • Identify other HPE tools and utilities thatassist in the monitoring and maintenance of
  • a ProLiant and Apollo server
  • Locate HPE websites for resourcesdescribing setup, deployment, monitoring,maintenance, and support of a ProLiantserver
